– The Court of Cassation has adjourned the sentencing hearing in the appeal filed by 66 defendants challenging the prison sentences, ranging from 3-year high-security prison to life imprisonment, in the case known in the media as “Sohag violence incidents” which dates back to 2015. The case has been postponed to the hearing of 3 September, 2020.

– The Court of Cassation has upheld the Criminal Court’s death sentence issued against former Coptic Christian monk Wael Saad Tawadros (known by his monastic name Isaiah al Makari) and mitigated the death penalty issued against monk Faltaous al-Makari to life imprisonment, who were convicted of killing Bishop Epiphanius, head of Anba Makar Monastery (Saint Macarius the Great) near Wadi el-Natroun in July 2018.

– The Court of Cassation has ruled to mitigate the Criminal Court’s 10-year prison sentence issued handed down against the police officer convicted of murdering political activist Shaimaa El-Sabagh, to a 7-year prison sentence, over the case that dates back to 24 January 2015 amid the commemoration of the Fourth anniversary of January 25 Revolution.

– The Terrorism 1st circuit has adjourned the trial of engineer Mamdouh Hamza, accused of spreading false news, for the hearing of 6 July 2020.

– The Economic Misdemeanor Court sentenced belly dancer Sama El-Masry to 3 years in prison on charges of incitement to immorality and debauchery, and fined her EGP 300,000 while placing her under police probation for a similar period.

– South Cairo Court has renewed the detention of Ahmed Said for 15 days pending investigations into the Case No. 1238 of 2020 Khalifa Administrative.
