– The Court of Administrative Justice adjourned, Saturday, the lawsuit filed by the family of lawyer and political activist Zyiad El-Eleimy, who is being held in pretrial detention pending the case publicly known as “Hope Cell”, demanding to oblige the Interior Ministry to transfer him to a private or state hospital to receive treatment and to furnish his prison cell. The case was postponed to the hearing of October 17, 2020.
– The 2nd Terrorism Circuit at the criminal court adjourned, Saturday, the retrial of one defendant accused of the violence incidents took place in the vicinity of Al-Azhar University, in the case known as “Al-Azhar University violence incidents”, for the First of November, 2020 hearing.
– The Cairo Economic Court decided to postpone the trial of former State Security officer Mohsen Al-Sukry, on charges of money laundering, to the hearing of October 4, 2020 to present an official copy of the appeal before the Court of Cassation over Case No. 12546 of 80 (judicial year); case No. 10205 of 2008 Qasr Al-Nil Criminal. The court also ordered the continuation of the defendant’s detention until that date. It’s worth mentioning that another circuit at the same court had referred the case to the President of the Court of Appeal to determine a new circuit to consider the case for feeling embarrassment.
– Today, the Supreme Constitutional Court turned down the two lawsuits submitted by the Minister of Finance demanding not to consider the rulings issued by the Court of Cassation regarding the determination of the value of agricultural lands that were seized upon the Agrarian Reform Law on the basis of their value at a later date on the date of the seizure, not at their value at the date of the actual seizure.
– North Cairo Criminal Court adjourned the first retrial hearings of former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafik along with other officials at the civil aviation sector into the case of “aviation corruption”. The retrial was postponed to the 2nd of November hearing, 2020 for pleading and checking the case’s documents.
– The Public Prosecutor referred today a prosecutor at the country’s Administrative Prosecution Authority to a criminal trial for verbally and physically insulting a police officer while performing his job which left him injured, in addition to intentionally destroying movable property that she does not possess resulting in financial damage, in what is known as “the court’s lady”.
